The Use of Postcards in Direct Mail Marketing Programs
Postcards are a great way to get your customer’s attention and convince them to act on a special offer. Unlike other forms of mail, with postcards there isn’t an envelope standing in the way of the customer and your direct mail piece.

According to James, “Postcards are one of the most effective forms of direct mail. EVERYONE looks at them before sending them to the round file (garbage). Your message must be short and sweet. You need to instantly grab the reader’s attention. It doesn’t matter if the billboard side has an awesome design. Think about what you are offering.”
There are many different forms of postcards to choose from. Why not choose a laminated postcard that includes a detachable loyalty card or discount card? This way, instead of just tossing the postcard in the trash after a quick glance, the customer will be encouraged to tear out a credit card sized card and place it in their wallet.
